Hey Guys

I recently downloaded an drum kit from the internet.
I was wondering what steps do I need to go by to achieve my own unique drum kits.
Can someone explain to me the techniques such all drum layering, Ect also how to use the ADSR.
Anything thing can help, but I preferred anything that goes in-depth

Never made my own drum kits, but few ways I imagine:

-chopping drum sounds from other songs
-recording your own set of drums if you have one
-using synths to make drum sounds

Layering is when you take two similar sounds and stack them together to make a different sound. There's different ways of doing that, depends on what you're using.

I'll usually find frequencys I like out of let's say a kick drum I have 3 drum samples one high one med and one low I'll eq the freq I don't want and layer to taste

Take an existing percussion sample and do any number of the following:
- modify ADSR aspects using a .wav editor (edison, slicex, audacity, etc.)
- EQ to intrinsically change how it sounds
- mixing effects
- layer with other sounds & percussion

Export as a .wav file and there you have it, your own drum

just remember that you can't sell or otherwise share your results if you are using paid for sample libraries as the starting point for your efforts: it is clearly stated in most End User Licence Agreements that you cannot repackage the original or altered versions of the samples contained in the package
