"Funk"-ish Bass Guitar Sounds Coming Up In EDM

I'm curious what the processing route some would go through to get this sound I keep hearing. I know it's a Bass Guitar, it has a slap like tonality to it. Just curious how it could be reached.

2nd link sounds like a typical fm slap bass patch - i.e. no processing, just a sound source that is mixed in with everything else being used for a bass line there

Yeah those are created using FM synthesis or sometimes sampling, but FM8 usually does the trick for me.
