Ok...I've been here for a while
And I've finally decided to post.

I'M NOT A NEWBIE...so u dont have to worry.

I've been in music my whole life.
picked up a sax in middle school band at 11 years old.
And played all the way up to College Band
(Florida State University -- Click here and listen to one of our LOUDEST, MOST CLEAN, MOST POWERFUL pieces you'll ever hear from a Marching Band (listen to the WHOLE thing especially the end...lol)
...dam I miss those dayz.

So, anyway
I can read music
I can notate rhythms
And I can play pretty much anything with my sax

But here's the deal
I want to play the keys better.
I can "finger peck" on the keys...and play simple Major triad chords.

I want to learn to play chords by ear
or just learn some of the more popular progressions for Neo-Soul, R&B type progressions.

Maybe a book or just some insight to that type of music

Similar to Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Rafael Saddiq and that ol'skool 70's Michael Jackson
mellow type uptempo joints and slower type.

I already know a little about music theory (major triad chords)

But My goal is to be able to play like all the guys at my CHURCH ...lol
those guys cant read a lick of music, but can play ANYTHING.

We had a guy in our jazz band that couldn't read music to save his life, but all we had to do was start playing, and he could just jump right in.

He started in the church too.

So maybe I need to start with some "church" type chords/progressions or blues type progressions

any suggestions ??
