I'm recording an EP of 6 songs from Different Eras (They will be listed below) and I will be recording using the typical recording techniques used in that era and for that genre.

Anyone know of any databases/easy reading material where I can learn what ballpark I will be playing in with regards to recording techniques for different eras? (figuratively speaking, obviously!)

Thank you!!

1. Sparks by Coldplay (2000)
2. All Your Love by Otis Rush (1956)
3. Roxanne by The Police (1978)
4. Married with Children by Oasis (1994)
5. "Yer Blues" by The Beatles (1969)
6. (Unknown 6th piece... 80's song needed)

Runstein and Huber Modern Recording techniques 7th edition - earlier editions will be more relevant to the 70s and 80's.

You might also try to find some historically oriented studio stories that cover different studios use of and innovation of recording technologies over time (Abbey Road is one such place to investigate, as would be Chess record and Stax and early Motown - when they were still in Detroit)
