Creating an 'Ud Sound

An 'ud/oud is a Arab/North African instrument that the lute and guitar are based off of. I am hoping someone can help me with some pointers on designing an 'ud sound on my synth. I have been working on it but it just does not come out correctly. Can anyone help?
Thanx in advance.

There's always this. It's supposed to be a software emulation of an Oud. I haven't heard the actual instrument itself so I'm not sure how close of an emulation this is. It's free by the way.

Thank you Forbidden Silence for that information and site.
Actually I want to create the sound in my hard-synth so that I can play it at gigs and shows. My keyboard cannot import sounds thus I must design the sound.

what kind of synth do you have?

Alesis QS6.1. With it I have the freedom to do a lot of creating/editing on programs (up to four layers of sound).
Got any suggestions? I have tried to use two sounds (one sine, one guitar) but I think there is a trick with the pitching of one of the sounds.

I got a couple of note samples on MPC but I find the 16-level a bit limiting.

At this rate I shall be going to North Africa to go and buy one! ;)
