A certain kind of robot voice - how do I make it?

I'm trying to make this certain kind of robot voice and I've tried different ways without any progress, and yes I've also tried to browse YouTube...

2 examples of the voice:
- Pendulum - Propane Nightmares (at 4:03)
- Bassnectar - Hologram (at 0:27)
They are a bit different but I believe they have used the same main process.

I'm using Fruity Loops 10, but It's alright to for example link how-to videos using other DAW's, as long as I'm able to understand the process.

Please help.

It's a vocoder. They work by combining two signals: the carrier and the modulator. In the classic "robotic voice" setup the carrier is a synth sound and the modulator is the voice.
