Hi all. Hope you’re well.

I’ve been listening to a lot of the electronic duo 'KOAN Sound' recently, and I would love to learn more about that style of music; particularly the bass sounds that they are using. Its fat, filthy and I like it! lol.

Presumably it’s produced by a synth of sorts, but I wondered if there is anybody on here that is able to elaborate please?

- The industry term/name given to the bass sound?
- How I might go about creating the sound from scratch (Oscillators, filters etc)?

I have included some sound samples for your reference.

All feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hi, here is my reply which is completely useless.
I've heard about Neuro bass, Reese bass and Hoover_sound. But I have no idea which belongs to what.

But you asked
"How I might go about creating sound from scratch? (Oscillators, filters etc)?"
These sounds, are tricky sounds. It seems to me.... that Someone was experimenting and made them and balance of parameters they achieved (probably by accident) is so unstable that it is difficult to re-create. However, a good starting points will be aggressive modern wavetable waveforms, which are already provided by some synth makers right out-of-the-box, crazy macro modulation (4+ at once), filters of course - special ones.
