What type of string does Timbaland use in this sample (View attachment 14511) from his Shock Value song "Release"? Or how does he get it to sound like it does? If anybody can help me out, it would be appreciated.

i have no clue what a tape string is, but i do know that this sound is more like a synth than a "string"

they have a bunch of these kinds of sounds in the mtron. look up mtron and see if you can find samples of sounds from the mtron.

If you're talking about the string thoughout the track... it's a tape string(m-tron). If you're talking about the tremelo string that articulates the bridge/chorus(comes in at the end of the 4th/8th bars), it's an Akai sample from their "strings" collection.
