It's the first thing you hear in this song besides the drum beats. It kind of sounds like an acoustic guitar but not really. It's something being strummed. The song uses a somple from this song:

...but it's never isolated.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm loking for some more kinds of plucked string sounds to put in songs outside of rhythm electric and acoustic guitar although if this is a regular acoustic guitar then I'd need to learn how to get it to sound like that because that's a good sound.

Thanks for any info in advance.

It does sound like a string instrument with some effects and EQ'ing to it. The string instrument sounds more like being strummed instead of picked or plucked. You can achieve this sound through a regular string being strummed and putting effects on it, EQ'ing and running it through different VST amps, or you can achieve this sound a lot of other ways. Recording a sound and putting all kinds of effects and EQ on it.

Sounds like it's just the sample flipped. Maybe they sliced it and shortened the decay to get the strumming.
Or, as was pretty common around this era, they had a session band re-record the sample?
