what is this piano-ish music box/rhodes like sound?

Both of the above songs have this piano like sound that sweetens up the backing track. It kind of sounds like rhodes but not as bright.

Any ideas? I'm trying to replicate this sound for a song. Any insight or reference to a preset would be amazing.

It's some kind of Rhodes - but since there are usually a bunch of "E. Piano" presets in just about every synth, sound module and workstation, it can be hard to pin down the exact origins of these sounds...the Aaliyah track is produced and played by R. Kelly, but who knows what he was using back then (1994). Maybe even an actual Rhodes, since music was still being done predominantly in studios...
