I've been trying to find these chords in this progression out by ear on my guitar but just cant figure it out:cry:. I believe I'm hearing a C-sharp dominant seventh, sharp fifth, sharp ninth( correct me if wrong) but i have no idea where the chord goes or what scale it would be in. First i thought it was in F#maj. now I'm having doubts. So overall i want to (1.) figure out whats the chords in this video at 2:00 - 2:18 Rihanna - Live on Today Show (27.05.2011) 1080i.HDTV Part 3 - YouTube (2.) How would I create a jazzy chord progression similar to this. (3.) Where could a C-sharp dominant seventh, sharp fifth, sharp ninth go next.

sounds like C#7#9#5 - C#7b9b5 - F#m7 - B9 - G#7sus4/D# - G#7/D

E+-5-3-2-2-4-4
B+-5-3-2-2-7-7
G+-4-4-2-2-6-5
D+-3-3-2-1-X-X
A+-4-4-X-2-6-5
E+-X-X-2-X-X-X

ENJOY

C# dominant 7 #9 #5 and C# dominant 7 b9 b5 are both typically used as dominant chords, so they resolve to F#m.

This chord sequence is one of many variations on the cycle of fifths.

I think the keyboard voicing really makes it sound good. D Maj7(A on top), C#7 #9 b13(A on top), F#min9(G# on top), Emin9(F# on top), Bass moves to B, then A13(F# on top), Eb7#9.
