Vocal Sample Processing....???

Is good EQ'ing about the only thing I can do to a track/song in order to "isolate" the vocals if I can not find a acapella version...???

I understand that you can also do a "PHASE INVERT" if you have the "instrumental" version...BUT...
what if you don't have or can't find the instrumental.

Are there any other programs, techniques or processing tips out there to isolate the vocals besides EQ'ing...???
