Tuning Kick in Sub Frequency

So I've been working on mixing my kick and bass to get a good "punch" sound, but I can't seem to get the bass and kick to stay in tune at lower levels.

The problem that I'm running into is that the kick seems really consuming in the mix. in the EQ, It looks like one big blurb of mess.

I've tried fine tuning it, and maybe it's that I'm not EQ'ing right. What could be the cause of this, and what's the solution?

The problem because a real issue when I'm trying to tune it to a low 808 bass. It gets muddy.

The kick sounds too high in the pitch. I usually lower the pitch of mine so it's more thick and has more thump to it. According to the beat of course. So It's not exactly a matter of the EQing part but the pitch
