Time Expander/Compressor Basics

Ok I just downloaded this free program called Real Time Granular Expander/Compressor. Im basically just trying to learn the basic principles of time expanding/compressing samples. Theres a lot of different controlls and I really dont know what they do. It didnt really come with a good manual on how to use the program or explain anything. Its got different controlls such as buffer size, buffer 1, buffer 2, grain size, grain overlap, expansion factor, delays before compressing, and a whole bunch more. Ive tried messing around with them but it sounds like sh*t. Can anyone explain the basics or direct me to a good informative tutiorial???? Thanks.

If you don't understand it, keep it as default.

Your only really important controls are time and pitch.

Also bear in mind that you can't change the pitch of anything by more than a few semitones and expect it to sound 'natural' or heavily processed. Same for time compression/expansion. There is a point where you just can't fill in pitch resolution without sacrificing tone.

It a little like the Fruity Granulizer in FL Studio.
granular synthesis.
