To Swing or nudge hi-hats?

Hey guys, as the title says. I'm using Maschine 2 studio and I was wondering on which function you guys like to use and for what situations(like what style of beat your making i suppose). I'm asking because I'm working on a track that has an 85 BPM tempo and when I cut the hat into 16th notes across and try to apply swing to it it sounds horrible lmao. But if I apply swing to a hat at the same tempo that plays at 8th notes across it sounds really good.

I prefer a combination of nudge and swing (if I am going to swing)

For hip-hop type beats, that 16th note triplet feel (8thTriplet-16thTriplet) caused by using 4 16ths to the beat and applying mpc style swing to them is a defining signature at tempos below about 96bpm, where it turns itself into QrtrTriplet-8thTriplet instead using 4 8th notes or 2 beats

nudging is used to push beats off the lock-step grid either backwards or forwards (your choice really) but not so much that it is noticeably out of the groove

Yea I do a little bit of both when I'm using a acoustic kit when its electronic I'll usually stick with swing function

good responses thanks guys. do you guys nudge/swing all of your percussions or just your hi-hats? this is mainly for hip hop
