stab/melodies - deep house?

Hi guys,

I have noticed that in deep house, the melodies are not so much phrases like as in other genre's but more as a single note melody type (i believe this is called stabs). I have been trying to recreate a sort of single note/ stab melody but i can't seem to pull it off. Any tips, guys?

repeat your notes
semitone movement down or up (half-step)
occasionally move out to the 3rd (3 or 4 semitones)

It's like a Detuned organ or bass i think. The VST i use for synths & Basses like like this is Hydra by Synapse, more specifically the Bottle Blow preset on the VST. Turn the Chorus amt all the way down and change the voices to 2 or more. You can add a sub bass or keep the bass that comes in the preset. They have a demo so you can try it out, i use it to make UK Garage influenced tracks alot cause it has alot of those type of presets in there.
