Skrillex - Fire Away drums?

Want to understand just how he made them sound the way they do. I understand alot of it is down to hat layering of white noise/bright noise etc. but there must be other elements that have escaped my notice, thanks!
 
Layering good drums is hard.
Talking about the snare here:
I think skrillex tends to layer a tom or something underneath at about 200-300 hz, then white noise as you said, but there's also the fact that he precedes each snare with a reversed snare tail.

There are some yt tuts on 'make koan sound snare' or whatever, cause koan sound have similar snares.
Make one of those, maybe put a white noise layer on top, pitch it up then chop off the tail, copy it, reverse it and put it at the start of the snare. That might get you closeish.
