Question about software or hardware...

I want to do more composing than just on my keyboard...What would yall friends of mine ...for someone kind of starting out in composing....software? hardware? what ones if either...Thanks yall..
 
for starting I'd recommend software. Reason is really nice, also the eternally dissed Fruity Loops got some tight features if you treat it right

but you need a lots of ram, don't forget that :)
 
Personally i would choose hardware (and i did choose that...), but with software you can get as good results. It's just a personal choice you've to make. Hardware is more expensive in general, but adds the fun to have touch with your sounds and music, and hey, hardware looks cool ;-) hehe
