Programming Trap beats without a drum pad?

How can I make my Trap beats have more rhythm and sound less robotic wothout using a drum pad or machine. Like how do I program groovy snares and hats using the drum machine in my daw?

I never use a drum pad anyway, don't feel the need for one.

Just bring up the piano roll and set to 16th note grid- it's not too hard to get the rhythm you hear in your head out with a bit of trial and error

Easiest way, IMO? Make a quick scratch track of one or two of the main lines, maybe the melody and the main rhythmic element, or something like that. Then follow the instructions given above. It works wonders and sometimes you mess up the input and get something out that sounds even cooler than what you were thinking of in the first place.

You can humanize the drums with velocity of the notes
Its 3 basical velocety levels you can use for that
For example about c hat
1. The normal volume c hat
2. The second with a little lower volume like 30% decrease
3. The ghost notes which is somethig like 60% decrease of the volume
And so you create somehow a rhythm with these

Thanks a lot guys I was messing around with the swing setting and got a better groove to my hi hats, snares ect..
