Pitch Shifting Bass

Hi Guys!

So I came across this song, and was wondering how this bass/sub and its pitch shifting was achieved?

Two things came to my mind, portamento with a long attack time or automation with a pitch shifter as plugin.

But couldnt really find out of its an bass synth or a subkick, both could do imo.

What do you guys think?

 
You could automate the pitch with a pitch shifter, but why not just automate the oscillator pitch in the synth?

Automation is definitely the way to go with this though.
 
Sounds like a typical kick made inside a synth, without any decay that would make a natural kick bass tail - so the bass just keeps on going until you release the note, making it easy just to automate the master pitch to create those glides.
Learn how to make a kick inside a synth, then create a similar patch and automate the pitch.
