Whats up People,
I`ve check previous post regarding this issue, but lets say I use pentatonic scale of C# (C#,D#,F#,G#,A#)

from the theory I can only use the notes in that scale...(right???)
if so the only chords left would be (F#,A#,C#) and (D#,F#,A#), how would I go about doing a progression with these 2 chords only. Would adding other notes make it sound offkey?

I am a little bit confuse...can someone sort this out for a playa!

thanks

You are very confused.

Let's spell the scale correctly, first.

C#,D#,F(which is E#), G#, A#

This gives us a major pentatonic scale.

The scale tones are a GUIDE, but you can use whatever works for what you are trying to accomplish.

If you are talking about a C# maj pentatonic scale, just respell to Dd Eb Gb Ab Bb, you shouldnt think of a pentatonic scale as dictating any of the chords you can use. with that scale you could easily play any chord in the key of Ebminor or F#major. if you wanted to apply this thinking to any major pentatonic just think that the second note of your scale could be the root of a minor key or the third can be the root of a major key. There are other ways you can apply the C# maj pent to other keys, but this way gives you the classic pentatonic sound, (ie. blues, classic rock)
