First off,
thanks for checking out my post,
im trying to find the right instruments to recreate the same sound from the beginning of the 007 Casino Royale - James Bond theme, after the horn goes off its either orchestra or strings being played?

i would post the link for it but i need 20 posts damn!

I want to use this sound for a melody im trying to make
i have fl studio producer edition, spent much time aquiring some vsts and just nothing has really done it
i been told itsmaybe mixture of brass section, wood section and strings section and thati need live performance
with vst's it wont sound as smooth?

is this true?
what about sections, wood sections, what does that mean?
are there different areas to these instruments, so other areas produce different sounds?
if i have to worry about different sections instead a generalized instrument then this is probably near impossible to find all
and every single instrument used to create this sound
man im stumped
well if anybody has any idea or recommendations for some vst's in terms of strings, high strings, brass and wood section
please let me know!

thanks
kind regards

first up use the poorman's youtube link: watch?v=videolinkhere

second: this is the first thing that comes up at youtube

But does not seem to match up with your questions as it is the standard Bond opening as written by John Barry, from as far back as Dr No

The theme, as heard here, uses brass, woodwinds and strings.

the swing section is a straight up big band with added strings meaning:
  • 5 saxes
  • 4/5 trumpets
  • 4/5 trombones
  • rhythm section (bass/piano/guitar/drums/percussion (Bongos stand out))
  • and strings
    • Vln I
    • Vln II
    • Vla
    • VClo
    • Bass
what about sections, wood sections, what does that mean?
A woodwind section consists of the following instruments in an orchestra
  • 2 Flutes doubling Piccolo
  • 2 Oboes
  • Cor Anglais
  • 2 Clarinets
  • Bass Clarinet
  • 2 bassoons
  • Contra-bassoon
  • Saxophones
    • 2 Altos
    • 2 Tenors
    • Baritone
      and possibly
    • Sopranino
    • Soprano and
    • Bass
are there different areas to these instruments, so other areas produce different sounds?
The brasswind section has the following instruments in a standard orchestra
  • 2/4 Horns
  • 2/3 Trumpets
  • 2 Tenor trombones
  • Bass trombone
  • Baritone Horn
  • Tuba
if i have to worry about different sections instead a generalized instrument then this is probably near impossible to find all
and every single instrument used to create this sound
all available in various forms in different collections, some free, some relatively cheap, some more expensive.

there are some sister forums which cover writing for big band and various aspects of working with virtual isntruments
