Alright. So I've now been making beats for a while and I've gotten to grips with many basics. But now I feel like every new beat I begin I have the same note selection and note lenght, making it feel like it's just the same beat I'm making but with different sound selection. Is there anywhere I can learn about having different note lengths within a sequence? now my music is very on the grid (4 beat patterns with a note on 4th beat different, or alternating note on 2 beats). I make kind of trap/hip hop. Heavy snares, 808s. Drums are okay but want to expand instrumentally, musically.

Probably firstly chords and music theory.
Also, find a tune with notes/ rhythms you like, and try and capture the groove without copying too much and using different sounds.
