The name of this funk sound?

Hate to have to post for this but I can't find this sound anywhere.

But what is the instrument used to
make that metallic "boing" sound present in so many funk songs?

It appears in a certain "So Ruff, So Tuff Wildstyle Mix" remix at 0:09, but since I'm new I can't post links.

If anyone could give me the name of this instrument or sound, it would be greatly appreciated.

agree could be a flexatone but it could also be a triangle being played in a bucket of water and lifted out

you can hear the flexatone more clearly in this one

 
Thanks for both of your responses. After just looking up flexatone sounds I think that it's basically just a single hit of one. I found some samples similar to what I'm looking for but I think I might just have to buy one myself.
