Modded 808 Basses?

I am fairly new to the trap production world, but I am familiar with the traditional 808 bass and 808 sub bass sample sounds. I'm noticing a trend with the 808 bass in that this modded sound is used. For example, the producers Eskay and Will-A-Fool both can achieve this sound I'm referring to in these videos: What methods are being used to create this sound?

run it through distortion/crusher plugins like camelcrusher, though in the last 2 tracks that sounds like it might be a synth bass
