Melody transitions HELP!!!!!

How to make MAJOR transitions (switch ups) to a whole new sound for the melody??

Is it chord changes or are certain sounds fit perfectly when transitioning?

Here are a couple of good examples:

Starts from the beginning and the switch up starts at 0:13

Listen to a couple seconds before 1:10 switch up happens after 1:10

Listen a couple seconds before 0:54 the switch happens after 0:54

I know people would say "JUST EXPERIMENT"

but I'm pretty sure there are ways to achieve this with any sound.

first one the changeup is to move from the progression i-bVI-bVII-i to i-bII-i-bIII-bII

second one the changeup is to move from the progression I-iii-IV-Vsus4-V to V | vi / / /_V | i.e. from the major to the relative minor: the last part of the progression has chord V coming on the "and" of beat 4 in each bar

third one the changeup is to move from the progression of the sample (haven't bothered to work out what the notes or the implied progression is) to i-v/b7-bVI-IV but sounds like it moves from i-v

This technique is for contrast and as long as you remain in the same key/scale or a relative key/scale you should be fine. It's musical relief from the Rap beat, mainly chord progressions (VIA SAMPLE) as "bandcoach" laid out. But they are resolved when the rap verse comes in melodically instead of using chords.

No sure if that helps or not...
