I just want a few clean cut rules on this. When you write a melody, do you chose a scale first? then every note you play is in that scale. I'm okay at playing chords on my left hand, but i never know what to do with my right hand, it always sounds the same. I dunno, i guess i just want a checklist of rules and what you guys do when you make a melody.

If you are playing a chord you can use any note in that chord or scale.
I believe.

What I do is just make my melode and then figure out what chords work
with it.

You can always just do it with one hand first then overdub the
fills after.I feel it alot easyer for new keyboard players.
That is what is good about DAW.

As far as rules I beieve there not so many.
