Matching Key with a Sample?

So I recently used a sample that's just a simple chord progression on a rhodes piano. I know the Key that the sample is in, but I slowed the sample down from 123BPM to 90BPM. The sample is in Amin but for some reason when I try to add a melody to it in the same key it sounds off. I'm assuming this is due to the slowing of the sample and I was just wondering what I could do to match the sample.

When you slowed it down did the pitch drop also or did you warp it to keep it sounding the same? Also, it's possible that it's just really out tune and needs to be adjusted a little bit up or down (in cents, not steps)

I didn't manually apply any pitch changes. I will mess with the pitch to see what I can do.
