Speaking of playing in the same key if my guitarist tunes to "d" how would i match my piano to his.

you won't have to do anything to your piano, you'll just need to play in the same key that he does.

There is a standard for tuning. If his guitar is not tuned correctly you should get him to do it.

You, as a keyboard player just need to play bits that sound good with whatever the guitar is playing. For example, If he plays a Bm chord, you'll probably play something in Bm...
