Making melodies first

Is this wrong? Im sure theres not going to be a "wrong answer" to this.

But when I started, I made boom bap sampled beats, and obviously the "Smart" way to do it there, is drums first. BUT now as a non sampled producer, I get inspired from hearing melodies. If I make drum patterns first, I find it hard to create melodies around them. Is this because of my "melodic" style, or what?

And how do you go about this?

Just go with what's comfortable, a lot of musiciana start with the melody and the harmony...
Not sure why you feel it's a problem

So basically, you can't make melodies off drums, but you're asking how you're supposed to make beats when you get inspired from melody. You literally just answered your own question - make beats with melody first. It's pretty stupid to make beats in a way that is harder for you just because SOME people do it.

Also, this.
