looking for advice on beat programming

i would like to improve my beat programming skills for dnb music, and i want to receive some advice.
i watched a tutorial here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxQ...7U&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_652532) and applied it to the following track.

these are the beats, and the soundcloud is just for reference in case there's a need to listen in context.

from the tutorial, i did the following things:
-follow the basic kick and snare rhythm and add variation with kicks
-add "shuffles"
-change the fourth as well as the second bar.

i could add the variations pretty easily, but i had troubles with shuffles.
could i receive advice on this point?

This is a pretty basic tutorial on how to make "ghost snares" and "drum rolls", used on dnb. Keep in mind that this is a BASIC pattern of break. there are no rules on how to make drums to drum and bass.

IMO, dnb is one of the most flexible genres for you to experiment with. Try listening to different artists and see how they make their breaks, and use as a reference to yours.
