Laying down bass parts...

Give an idea of how you guys lay down your bass parts. I usually try to play the root note of each chord in my parts, but I am trying to get some input from other experienced producers about their technique. I am trying to freshen up my sound, so some new ideas would be very helpful. Sometimes you just get stuck in your own style for too long and you need to break out of it, know what I'm sayin' ?

sometimes i do what u do wit the chords, and theres times where i make a bass line that corresponds wit my kicks. it depends on the sample and how im layin my drums. i usually just hum somethin up and then find the notes for it....theres always a note for what u hummin, u just gotta find it.
