i listen to alot of neo soul producers,like dilla. exile, and lord finesse. its always put me in the best mood. i know how t should sound i just need a little help theory wise.. like whats the usual range in tempo, timing, all that novice stuff i need to know. as well as any advice or tips.. basically anything you would tell a beginner. im not looking for any shortcuts, just somewhere to start.

Grab a stack of soul records and get to sampling. Most reside at 80-90 bpm. If you play keys, tritones are your best friend.
