How to produced muffled sound? [Hip-Hop/Drill Beat Production]

between 2:52-3:05 the beat sounds muffled as if it has entered a filter, but you can still hear the beat playing at a reduced volume with the 808's taking precedence. how do i produce this using fruity loops 10?

Maybe I'm deaf or somethin' (;)) but I really can't hear any 808's in that fragment that you've described. For me it's just an automated LPF that slightly opens with time on this arp & lead sound.

Yep, as TheCld said, that from 2:48 to 3:00 is a low pass filter, but the vocals aren't fed through it. Starting at 3:00 the filter is open (disabled), it's just the arrangement that changes (only the 808 and the chippy pluck thing playing).
