How to make the track slow down and produce this effect?

Starts at the 0:03 (3 second) mark. It has this slowed down effect. My only guess is using pitch shift in combination with automation function. Is there another way to do this though?

 
The sound of reel-to-reel tape coming to a stop while in play mode. There are tape simulation plugs that have that effect, but you could also mess with creating your own effect as you described above, and/or try modulating a chorus or delay program (an analog unit would be great). Or simply sample this effect (or the similar-but-different "turntable back-spin") and play with insert editing-in the sample where you want it.

Thanks rhythmgj . None of those are really plug-ins that logic offers, so I'll have to purchase them, or try that sampling idea you recommended.
