Hi,

I'm pretty new to sound design and making synths and I was wondering how to make these sounds i know we all have heard before. They are really bright and colourful yet soft synth sounds. Here are some examples

A$AP Rocky - Get lit: https://www.youtube.com/user/remyon...d=fCTQAKLeMxo&annotation_id=annotation_895698

dapda beatx - mega (starts at 1:00) https://soundcloud.com/dapdabeatx/mega?in=dapdabeatx/sets/sapphire

high klassified - place saintrose (starts at 1:27) https://soundcloud.com/high-klassified/high-klassified-place-saintrose

I think by this one you get the type of sound that I am looking to make.

I have sylenth and massive

My guess is this
In sylenth:
Use a saw oscillator with several unison voices.
Turn on a lowpass filter and add a small amount of resonance. Use automation in your DAW to make the cutoff slowly rise from quite low to medium-high.
Maybe add some chorus (do you have chorus in sylenth?)
Add a little reverb, not too wet or too long a decay.

Posted this on another thread but relevant here too:

Can you find a preset on a VST you have that sound right or similar?

One useful technique is to open two copies of the VST and load up the patch you like on one and a "blank" patch on the other. Change all the settings on the blank one to match the other one listening as you go. This really helps you understand how the sound is crafted.
