How to make a proper techno bass?

Hi, Everyone
After lots of sessions in the studio I don't seem to get my basslines sounding good or the way I want them, I ve tried lots of tricks and techniques, and I think its just me.
1. I ve tried to make a sub bass from the simple sine wave and then layer it with low passed and low tuned toms to give it more movement.

2. That sub bass layer with an FM synth (logic EFM1) and then sidechained to the kick

3. and also from a synth. (for example the FM8) but I think it feels to weak.

so my question is, what I am doing wrong? all of this 3 techniques I just mentioned are used by good producers out there. but I can't achieve that fatness and depth seen in the techno tracks.

Here its
2 tracks of mine so you can judge by yourself and below some references that is what I am attempting to. (Drumcode sound basically, low rumbling bass)

Thanks a lot in Advance

Can you find a preset on a VST you have that sound right or similar?

One useful technique is to open two copies of the VST and load up the patch you like on one and a "blank" patch on the other. Change all the settings on the blank one to match the other one listening as you go. This really helps you understand how the sound is crafted.
