How do you deal with creative blocks?

I keep finding myself in ruts where the ideas just don't come easily.

Are there any tools / websites / apps / plugins you use to get the creative juices flowing? What about sources for things like MIDI files to kickstart inspiration? How do you use them?

I take a short break and listen to some new music to see if anything inspires me... after that I force myself to start creating, even if it's not great at first

I agree, this is a great way to find inspiration. Also blocks sometime come from repetition, where you find you keep doing the same thing over and over. Try different approaches, if you usually start with melodies, try programming drums first or chopping a drumbreak etc
