How to compose an intro like disco/funk motown music???

I'm trying to recreate the feel of disco/funk vibe

And I love the way the intro is a way different melody than the original beat

I have made a lot of intro to some in the same keys as the disco funk beat I made but the transition to the beat is not smooth

I have trouble knowing how long an intro should be and how much should be put in the intro

Any tips/advice on how to make an epic intro???

Here's an example of an intro I would like to incorporate in my beats

use a turnaround progression related to your home key with the final chord in the turnaround serving some dominant function to your home key

i.e. if the turnaround progression were iii-ii-V7-I (or I-iii-ii-V7) then we are wanting that chord I to be our chord I in the main part of the song

long held chords in the strings and keys

little to no bass movement/sound

cymbal rolls, minimal other percussion in use

that was an alto sax playing in the altissimo range (could be a soprano sax but did not sound "ugly" enough)
