Having some serious issues with repetition, please help?

Alright, My workflow goes as this..

Get a 8 bar melody loop going or drum pattern
Build on it
Come out with my 8 bar chorus with everything I want added..

Then I go into Pro tools and map it out and construct it, well I have serious problems making a verse... they end up sounding really dull or exactly like the chorus.. anyone have some tips?
 
The verse could be in a different key, or it could be a few tones down from the chorus. So the verse could have a different melody and could build up in pitch to the chorus.

You could take away/drop instruments in the verse. You could lower the volume of the verse so the chorus has the highest point/highest energy ( for dynamic range )

Lot of different possibilities.

also consider changing what is being played in each instrumental part - make the notes/rhythm different but keep the same chord progression

consider taking away snare hits, shifting the snare to beat 3 only instead of beats 2 and 4, adding in extra hits every other bar or 4 bars
