Hard Hitting Drums?

I've been producing now for about a year and one of my biggest downfalls is my drums. I feel that it could be a combo of the patterns I'm using but also how I'm mixing my drums. Does anyone have any tips when it comes to mixing hard hitting trap drums? Or perhaps point me towards a tutorial or another thread in this forum that you know of?

Thanks!, DeJunky.

Can we hear an example of your drums? Maybe someone will be able to tell better than you what is lacking

First of all, start with good samples: the mix is important but it can't do magic.

Try parallel compression if you want your drums to smack harder.
When I first started working with drums, I used to sample kicks from other tracks, just to have a reference.
It's easier once you have a good kick to build the rest around it.
Also, layering is really important in trap music, as well as a good balance between kick and 808/bassline.
