Free Synth plugin suggestion...???

I would love to dive straight into Xfer Serum...But as I am still a noobie in sound design...

I think I need a good free wavetable synth vst that can be a good 'stepping stone'...so that transitioning into Serum can be as painless as possible.

Suggestions please...???

The stuff built into a daw, is a good place to start.
Third party stuff such as zebralette if diving into that form of synthesis.
I think noisemaker is an analalogue synth[not actually analogue, a vst that is not any other type of synth but the regular subtractive type]

I stick to reaktor and reason but I'd suggest heavily...
the stuff built into a daw and/or zebralette/kairatune.

Do you actually need a wavetable synth or are just saying "wavetable" because Serum has wavetables? How far are you in learning synthesis? Because even wavetable synths are structurally very similar to regular subtractive ones, they just have different oscillators, basically. Modulating the waveshape or pulse width is going to be very similar to modulating wavetables, even though the resulting timbres are different.
