i really like the challenge of making a song work without changing chords, i.e having a loop of two to four chords that remains constant as opposed the the more traditional approach of having verse, chorus and middle setions that involve a chord change.
of course staying within the same loop is fairly common in hip hop, but we've been doing some songs latley with a female song writer, who's brought lyrics and melody to our beats and chords.
we found a simple way to get the chorus to really kick in, which was just to turn the section up 0.5 - 1db, i'm sure this is a common trick but it worked so well, we gat also got a great dynamic when the song returns to the verse.
I'm curious to know if other's have tried this? or work in a similar way without chord changes?
