dubstep bass trick racking my brain!

I'm trying to figure out how to make this one bass decay that is decently common in popular dubstep tracks. It sounds like when the drop hits, the bass goes in with full attack, but then they use like a bit crusher or something..to cause it to sound like it "sizzles out". That's the only way I can describe it anyway. I tried to bit crush and down clip it, but it didnt work very well. Maybe it needs a compressor? If anyone could help me out that would be awesome.

I wish I knew the first thing about making dubstep bass effects. I could use that thrown in here and there in my work.

As far as I know, compression could well be a factor but some kind of gate with the filter blah blah is what really does it.
