Ok i got cubase and tons of vst's. I got the korg legacy collection and the minimoog. I was listening to mad professors "under the spell of dub" album, and wanted to create some similar bass. so far, even with my vst's it seems impossible. an example of a good bass i want is "false curl girl." its big and bassy, but almost not there. can anyone give tips on dub bass using "analog" synthesizers? I would prefer using the ms-20 or minimoog.

I know there probably isnt a lot of dub people here but i'll try it

how i do it

i use korg ms 20, making the bass like the subbass preset but tweaked with less attack and modulation. Then i compres it with blockfish (fish fillet) and put a very light chorus on it with kjaerhus classic chorus. Then i put waves maxbass on it and compress it again with blockfish.

the result you can hear on http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=240345&songID=2630230

A lot of dub basses are nothing more than souped up sine waves. Try doing that (that is the basis for my dub bass).

And do check out that 'interruptor' site, it has some pretty good tips on there.

Any tips for making those reggae guitar or piano sounds? I love them so much but I'm a perfectionist. If the sound doesnt have that classic reggae feel...im not using it. Any advice?
