I would say it deppends onwhat you are working with. What music genre.

I arrange my drums to go with the bassline. solo your bassline and then listen and figure out where to put the kicks, etc.

Ahh, It really depends on what you WANNA do with thes drums.
If you are going toward Banging HipHop beats, then the drums are the most important thing in the whole mix.
It's really the core of the track.
In RnB, I suggest that the drums go with the Bass like he said.

Well, for instant for a bar with time signature 4/4 with resoulution 1/16, as usually i have my snares and claps on 5 and 13 step, and a kickdrum on the first step. All the other kicks can be wherever i want. And of course i dont limit myself using only two snares on the 5 and 13 steps, i can put them on any position, especially when i make the beat breaks. And it depends of the bass, melody and genre of music that i make as well.
