Do youmix vocals with the beat or after the beat is mixed

I find that sometimes, when I'm working with an existing beat and throwing vocals on top, they seem to be qay easier to get to sit right sometimes.

What do you guys think? What methods do you recommend?

While it might work sometimes, I don't think the "throwing vocals on top" method should ever be used unless it's the only way - ie. you don't have access to the multitrack session. It's part of the mix & should be treated like any other instrument in a sense.

yeah mix it in with the other tracks if you're producing the entire song. ...or ask for the stems, and mix it in using the stems (multitrack session mentioned above).

Fresh. That's the way I normally do it. I just have trouble getting it to sound as good as throwing it "on top" due to limitations in skill.
