Distorted melody

I fell in love with this chill soundtrack from Spring Breakers, and been wondering, how to recreate similar distorted and deep sound



Any ideas?

Huge reverbs and distortion/saturation. You should start twisting knobs. Start with a preset if you can´t come up with one ureself. Twist from there.

One thing I got thinking of was gently lowpassing sounds, distorting them (very soft clipping), and then lowpassing them again, like a pre-tone and post-tone for the distortion.

This. And what helps to create that hollow, deep sound as well is to put a EQ on the pad's channel, and then give a boost on the fundamental (or any secondary) frequency, with a narrow Q.
