Counting beats...??

does anyone know how to count beats? i guess thats what i need to know haha.. like the 1 and 2 and 3 and 4.. how do you know how many bpms that is?? does anyone know?
 
Assuming you can already recognize the individual beats, you could always just look at your watch, count the beats in 15 seconds and then just multiply it by 4 like with your heart rate.
 
Usually in hip hop and r&b, the second and fourth beat will be a snare or clap. So the most simple example would be song "The Way I Are", where is: kick-clap-kick-clap, and that's 4 beats. U count that for one minute and u get BPM (beats per minute) of the song. Sometimes it's not that simple, and then goes like kick kick-snare-kick kick-snare. But always remember, the second and fourth beat is almost always snare or clap
