just a quick question..i have a akai mpc 2000xl..I was thinking about getting a novation nova and also a korg triton,,problem is the triton is kinda pricey,,any ideas on something that is comparible to the triton for beats.

Let me try to understand what you are saying, you want to use a workstation JUST for drums? hella overkill.. buy a drum machine for your beats, or use your mpc as a drum machine(download drum samples into it).

For deephouse and techhouse you'll use 808/909 drums mostly anyway, so a Novation DrumStation ( http://www.novationuk.com )or a Jomox Airbase99 ( http://www.jomox.de )( =the best!) will be great!
Another option is to create analoglike drumsounds on the Nova and then sample them into your MPC. Or use samples from the net or sample-cds like said in the previous post.

If you have an MPC, just get some sample cd's that have drum ssamples and load 'em into your sampler. That way, you have access to just about any drum sound out there.
